Tennis star Emily Appleton on lost luggage and positives in Germany

Doing your job without your tool or favourite work clothing would be tough for people to take care of.
Imagine if you are a tennis player, you are overseas for a championship and you head for the airport conveyor belt only to find out your entire luggage is lacking…
Sky Sports Scholar Emily Appleton shows all…
My last trip of the summer was to Leipzig and Braunschweig. I was excited because I’d return to the clay and also competing in a nation that I am fond of!
To get to Leipzig I needed to take two flights and once I arrived unfortunately my 2 luggage hadn’t!
London airports don’t allow tennis rackets to be taken as hand luggage and so I was without all my rackets, my tennis sneakers. All I had were the clothes I was wearing in my back.
The problem has been far from ideal but I tried not to panic – however – since they had been convinced the bags could arrive later that evening.
The following morning (the day of my first game!) My luggage were still nowhere to be seen.
At the right time of my very first match I still had no gear and was wearing the clothes from the day – I travelled in sports apparel!
I was kindly gave her second set of tennis shoes by my doubles partner and I also borrowed a racket.
We played really well together and considering each the factors and it being the very first time we had met with each other that I had been really happy with what happened and we had conquered a set.
A day later my bags had not showed up and it was time for my first round singles match.
I confronted a Hungarian who had experience on the clay and she had been a really tough opponent. We
Started the game at 6pm and that I won 7-6 4-6. I had been so pleased to win my very first round and especially considering the conditions.
Regrettably my luggage did not even appear in time for another day to get my next round singles along with also the quarter-finals of those doubles.
From the singles I challenged her and dropped very closely into the winner.
In the doubles, despite having match points, we lost 16-14 in the last set tiebreaker.
I was quite happy with how the week had gone although they were losses along with very crystal clear progress was made – even with my own items!
It sucks to lose but also to drop to the winner of this tournament is more rewarding and it revealed that I am close.
Luckily my bag showed up a week later and so I managed to play another week with my own equipment.
Where I will focus on my fitness I’m back in England for a three-week training cube center. I am really excited to continue as I’m seeing great improvements in mindset and my game daily working.
