Roger Federer suffers his fastest defeat in 16 years at the Cincinnati Masters

(CNN) — Roger Federer has endured his fastest defeat in 16 years later crashing from the Cincinnati Masters Thursday.
Even the 20-time grand slam winner was roundly beaten 6-3 6-4 by Russian qualifier Andrey Rublev in just 62 minutes.
Federer, who has won this event seven days before, was confronting his 21-year-old opponent for the very first time and the Swiss star said he had been impressed by the strength of the Russian’s match.
“He was super clean. Defense, crime, serving well,” Federer said of the opponent after the match.
“Didn’t give me anything. He had been everywhere. It was difficult for me, but an fantastic match .”

Federer eyes US Open
Despite the loss, Federer said he had been happy to have come through the Cincinnati Pros accident free and has already turned his focus to the US Open later this season.
The world No. 3 is looking to clinch his sixth title at Flushing Meadows, his first since 2008.
“I worked very hard coming to Cincinnati and in that tiny season we’d since Wimbledon, so I could maybe also utilize a few days away,” the 38-year-old added.
“I will instruct, do what I want to do for the US Open and that is it. It’s fairly simple, but I have got to work hard”

The 32-year-old had ruled himself from playing the singles in Flushing Meadows but has confirmed he’ll miss the competition entirely.
“I am not going to play doubles at the US Open. My aim is to get back playing at the level that I wish to on the singles court, and I’ve determined I want to focus all my energies on that right now,” Murray told BBC Sport.
